GALLERY SMALL BORE RIFLE courses of fire consist of three (3) positions: 10 shots Prone, 10 shots Kneeling and 10 shots offhand (standing.) Any shooter may elect to shoot a more difficult position for Prone and/or Kneeling. Sighters are allowed prior to each position. Targets used will be NRA/USA 50 or A-36.

Rifles are limited to .22 LR rimfire - ONLY. Stand single shot target rifles from Winchester 52s to Remington 37s to Anschutz customs are allowed. No weight or sight/scope restrictions. Shooting jackets, shooting pants, slings and shooting mitts or gloves are optional. Eye and ear protection is strongly recommended and is mandatory at MRGC: please use common sense.

In the past several years, a new category has been instituted to attract new shooters, older shooters or shooters who would like to try gallery but not invest in expensive rifles and gear. This category is called Light Rifle. Light Rifle is any .22 LR rimfire single shot rifle weighing 8.5 lbs or less(including sights/scope) with a flat butt plate. A bolt action rifle with a magazine may be used as long as only one cartridge is loaded at a time. A sling can be used but not be attached to the rifle. Cuff slings are not allowed. Canvas jackets only, no shooting pants allowed. Targets used will be the A-17.

Light Rifle and Standard target rifle scores are scored together and each score that qualifies is used to determine team results with the top four team members' scores used to compile the team score.

This brief summary is compiled of information from the South Shore Rifle League Rules and Regulations booklet as well as some general information.
